After talking about the best Christmas markets in Europe, we continue our Christmas journey in the United States. There are only 4 days left until Christmas Day and if you are going to spend your Christmas holidays in New York, Chicago, Denver, Philadelphia or Baltimore, you must visit these Christmas markets that are open until Christmas Eve.

Christmas Markets are very popular in Europe but they are also much loved in the United States. After all, the smell of mulled wine, all the Christmas treats and festive food, the handmade ornaments, the winter wear, the magical Christmas tree and the toys create that perfect Christmas atmosphere we are waiting for the entire year.

A staple of the Union Square since 1994, Union Square Holiday Market is the place where more than 1 million people shop every year around Christmas time. From artisanal food, handmade ornaments and jewelry, toys for children and other Christmas goodies, the lovely Union Square Holiday Market is the perfect place to find something Christmassy and to spend time with family and friends.

Winter Village at Bryant Park, New York

Another amazing place to visit in New York until Christmas Eve is the Winter Village, located in midtown. Besides the regular winter clothes, decorations, handmade jewelry and traditional Christmas food, Winter Village also features an ice skating rink with free admission.

If New York is the city where you will be spending your holidays, you have to check our list of restaurants open during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This is a little bit off topic, but we are quite excited about these places. Also, are we really off topic? We think everybody knows that we love eating good food more than anything.

Christkindlmarket Chicago

Chicago is the place where tourists and locals can enjoy the flair of an authentic German Christmas Market that also incorporates some international vibes. With more than 70 types of food including some delicious German sausages, such as Frankfurter, Nurnberg and Thuringer and other authentic German items including glass ornaments and wood carvings, the Christmas Market in Chicago is similar to a visit to the Christmas Markets in Germany. Christkindlmarket Chicago is organized by German American Services, Inc, that are responsible for this magical event for about 2 decades.

Christmas Village, Philadelphia

Philadelphia’s LOVE Park is transformed into a winter wonderland with twinkling lights, seasonal gifts, delicious waffles, German bratwurst, classic mulled wine and other classic German traditions from November 24th until December 24th. If you visit the Christmas Village in Philadelphia, you will meet more than 60 vendors where you can find various Christmas gifts for your loved ones or take a shopping break with some delicious food in front of you.

Christkindl Market, Denver

The German inspired Christmas Market in Denver is actually a place where you can discover numerous European handcrafted objects and some tasty German and Austrian food.

When it comes to the handmade objects you can purchase from Denver Christkindl Market, be ready to discover beautiful pottery from Poland, lacquer boxes from Ukraine, wooden Santa sculptures, clothing articles and other items from different European countries.

Entertainment is also an important aspect at Denver Christkindl Market, therefore there are numerous performances visitors can enjoy every day. But let’s not forget our favorite part of a Christmas Market (yes, we are talking about food)! Hungry visitors can try different German and Austrian dishes. Some are seasonal and some are classic, such as the Wiener schnitzel, but all are absolutely mouthwatering. The German beer is the perfect drink for your German food feast so don’t forget to buy and enjoy some.

Christmas Village in Baltimore

Baltimore’s Christmas Village smells like a Christmas dream: gingerbread and waffles. But the smell and taste of these 2 Christmas staples are not the only reason to visit the city’s Christmas Village, the village is a replica of the classic Christkindlesmarkt from Nuremberg and it gathers together, in traditional wooden booths, numerous vendors who sell various Christmas arts and crafts including jewelry, decorations and unique gifts from different parts of the world.

If you visit one of these Christmas Markets or another Christmas Market you think we should know about, please join us and share your story with our foodie community!
