There are good days, and there are better days.  Let’s just not talk about the bad days.  And this past Friday, it was a good day.  You see, I had worked out a solution to a problem that I’ve been having (work related... no one needs to worry).  I had kind of pieced it together the day before, but I had to run it past someone else before I could revel in the good feeling.  So, I plodded through work during the day and then had a meeting with my friend.

After that, it was time for some wine and then some dinner.  We’d already cracked open some wine in celebration, and then we decided to move towards my friend’s place in Parkview.  And that’s when we settled on Taste of Punjab.  She’s never been, and I have always enjoyed it though I so rarely go out for Indian.

We ordered some wine (though, I must say that I am always intimidated when I look at a wine menu.  And then it was on to starters.  It was at this point that I knew I was in for a good evening.  You see, they had a vegetarian starter plate and then a chicken and lamb starter plate.  I wasn’t down for the lamb (I usually don’t like it) and I asked for a combination of the chicken and veggie starter and the super helpful manager was prepared to do just that for me.

That tandoori was the best I’ve had in ages.  (And yes, we get Indian takeaways even if we don’t go out for it terribly often.)  And the onion bhaji was just the way I like it.

For mains, we celebrated with butter chicken and an eggplant curry.  The service was perfect.  The food was delicious, and the spice level was spot on.  That would have been enough.  But, the night was about moving forward, paving the way to the future and celebrating the personal triumphs that one or two small people on this planet can make.

That’s a good reason to celebrate and the Taste of Punjab, falling somewhere between formal and casual was just the place to do it.  (And yes, I had the absolute best Uber driver on the way home.  It’s so wonderful to be responsible when you’ve been celebrating like crazy.)  The next day, well, I felt a little less like celebrating, but the leftovers were divine.
