London is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. From the amazing attractions that can be discovered by visitors to a beautiful developing skyline and a diverse restaurant scene, London is a great place for family holidays but also a top destination for those who love to wnder around art galleries and museums.

As most big cities, London goes past the national cuisine and embraces global flavors in various restaurant forms that include Michelin-starred restaurants, rooftop bars, gastropubs, pubs, traditional British restaurants and afternoon tea locations.

When in London, there are so many options for dining that it is very hard to pick the best restaurants but we tried to do this in order to offer you a preview of what the city has to offer. Since we love variety, our top includes London restaurants that were inspired by various cuisines and cultures.

Mews of Mayfair

We had to start with a traditional place that serves delicious British food, after all we are in Great Britain, right? Mews if Mayfair has four rooms where visitors can enjoy delicious food however, for a laid back British experience, we recommend the Brasserie.

The menu includes all the flavors UK has to offer including salmon from Suffolk, rustic cheese from Somerset and other British produced products combined in delicious, traditional dishes, such as fish and chips, potato dumplings and modern specialties like avocado and eggs.

Boqueria

If you never thought Spanish flavors can be savored in London, you were wrong. Boqueria is a friendly, modern restaurant where foodies can indulge in a genuine Tapas experience that includes delicious Spanish food and traditional wine and sherries. The restaurant was included in the Michelin guide in 2015.

The menu includes traditional Spanish dishes but also traditional desserts, types of cheese, seafood dishes and some flavorful vegetarian choices.

NOPI

We love NOPI because we love Ottolenghi, a shop where you can find anything from breakfast goodies, fresh salads, Mediterranean inspired lunches and cakes and tarts to die for. NOPI is the place where instead of picking Ottolenghi food to go, you can sit down to enjoy the signature dishes of the shop in a formal or informal atmosphere. It is up to you to choose the atmosphere you prefer, NOPI offers both options in their location:  upstairs – formal and downstairs – informal.

The restaurant’s menu include options for all meals of the day and it varies based on the season but the signature dishes, such as courgette and manouri fritters, twice-cooked baby chicken with lemon myrtle salt and chilli jam and, of course, a large selection of desserts are always ready to be served.

Medlar

When world class cooking meets exceptional flavors, the dining experience is one of a kind and this is exactly what happens at Medlar. The simple decorated restaurant offers two and three course meals, a high-quality selection of wine and some incredibly amazing desserts.

Most fine dining restaurants find inspiration in French cuisine and the same thing happens at Medlar. However, Medlar takes inspiration from the French style but it combines it with flavors from all around the world. Duck egg tart with red wine sauce, aubergine purée, baby fondant potatoes roasted foie gras are just a few of the specialties you will be able to taste at Medlar.

Berber & Q

If the French style is too pretentious and expensive for you and you are looking for an affordable place where you can indulge in new flavors, Berber & Q is the place to go. According to the restaurant’s website, the music is from the West but the food is from the East so as you can imagine you will be able to try some Middle Eastern dishes served on large trays.

If you do not know what to expect from a restaurant that loves Middle Eastern flavors, let us tell you: large portions of food, many options including vegetarian dishes and a cocktail of flavors like no other. If you are a meat lover you can try: the hand-pulled lamb shawarma, the smoked chicken thighs, apricot glaze and dukkah and even pork and sausage dishes. Vegetarians can try the cauliflower shawarma or the Urfa roasted pumpkin, green harissa, yoghurt & pecan. If you are a fan of hummus, we highly recommend to try it at Berber & Q. Their humus is the real deal for sure!
