It was our first night in Osaka, and my family wanted to try a small, local "mom-and-pop" type Japanese restaurant. We roamed the small side streets and came across a cute, little restaurant. We decided to give it a go.

There wasn't a traditional menu card. Instead, on the counter, there were 4-5 actual dishes on display. We decided to try their squid dish, some sashimi and the eel/cucumber salad.

The squid was nicely poached and the dressing it came with was very refreshing and tangy.

The sashimi pieces were nice and chunky. I tasted a piece and was amazed at how fresh and sweet it tasted, it was obviously super fresh.

The eel and cucumber salad was also scrumptious. The eel was tender, and the cucumber light and crunchy, as it was slightly pickled. Overall, a very refreshing dish - the dressing brought all the ingredients together nicely.

The husband and wife team were very friendly, and although we had limited Japanese verbal skills, we managed to have an enjoyable conversation in broken Japanese/English.

We were impressed with the food and service, and decided it was a place we should visit again...
