Since reading the article about Types of cheese from France, I had a terrible craving for cheese! I went to the local store and bought four types of cheese including Camembert.

I really liked Jamie Oliver's recipe of Baked Camembert but I decided to do some more research and I found other Camembert recipes. The idea is somehow the same but in the end I decided to combine Jamie Oliver's recipe with one recipe found on Martha's Stewart blog.

I did this because I didn't find Camembert in a box, it was wrapped in some plastic coverage. I could've bake it in a griddle pan, in the oven, but since I found Martha's Stewart idea I decided to combine two recipes and see what the result will be. Spoiler alert! It was absolutely delicious!

Probably it will be even more delicious if you find AOC Camembert made with unpasteurized milk. Mine was made with pasteurized milk but it worked just fine for me.

Ingredients:

A wheel of Camembert cheese (250 g)

2 cloves of garlic

6-8 slices of bread

Olive oil

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas 4.

Brush the Camembert's rind with some olive oil on both sides then cut 5 small holes in the top rind with a knife. Chop one garlic clove and insert the pieces into the holes. Place the Camembert on a grill in the oven. If you don't have a grill for the oven, use a tray with baking sheet in it.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the interior is creamy.

In the meantime brush the bread with olive oil and cook in a griddle pan until toasted. Rub the bread with the clove of garlic. If you can find French baguette, it is perfect! French bread is amazing! I used some wholemeal bread since I had it in the house.

Enjoy!
