I’ve become a little addicted to UberEats recently. It’s just so darn convenient when you really need to eat and taking any time out of your day to shop or cook is difficult to do.

The concept of food delivery is hardly new in South Africa. We’ve had Mr. Delivery for… well, longer than I’ve been here. But ordering is just not as efficient. Either that or the pretty pictures on UberEats make all the difference. I’m betting it’s both – at least for me.

It’s also the best way to spoil yourself after a tough week. Okay, maybe not the best way, but it’s a lovely treat on a Sunday morning when you’re hungry and lazy. That’s exactly what happened this morning – an overwhelming urge for delicious food that I didn’t need to prepare myself.

Sitting at my computer already, I headed over to UberEats to see what inspired me most. Today was a French toast breakfast with chorizo (you know, for a Portuguese twist) – something I’ve been craving for a few weeks now.

I tapped in my order and went back to organising my week. A little while later, a driver on a motorcycle drove up with my food in a plain paper bag. I grabbed a plate, silverware, and drizzled over some maple syrup.

Complete satisfaction.

And, you know, I’m definitely going to be back for more. It’s really only a question of when. Looking at my schedule, it will be soon.
