I believed the hype and I totally regret it!

I can't say alot of positive things about Burger Project by Neil Perry which is a real shame. I went there for 3 reasons, the main reason being I love burgers, burgers are my food joy, my food pinnicle, my food raison d'etre. The second reason was Neil Perry, I've never been to Rockpool but my hopes were high due to his reputation. The third and last reason a friend of mine raved about it, that friend has now been downgraded to aquaintance.

To be fair to my aquaintance, he ordered the korean, and he loves korean food, so food heaven for him. I dont really appreciate all that is the korean national dish of kim chi so I didnt order that burger. Instead I went with the american cheese, how can you go wrong with the classic cheese burger.... apparently you can go pretty wrong.

The burger was beyond disappointing, I think its my second worst burger of all time (my worst was so horrible Ive blocked it form my memory). The beef patty was lumpy and mishapen, way too much onion, couldnt really taste the rose mayo or secret sauce, the cheese was nothing to write home about.

Is it wrong to be let down? I mean if you're going to do a cheese burger, where there are so few ingredients, each one needs to pack a punch!

The rest of my order was the chips with chipolte chilli, the chips were ok, but chips from Grill'd are way better. And the homemade ice tea which was good but taste like bottled ice tea you can get from the supermarket and sadly the ice tea was the best thing in the meal.

To round off the experience the restaurant had no atmosphere, I think they were trying for cool and modern, but ended up with minimal and boring, a bland white and grey takeaway joint...sigh....
