In case you do not know how wonderful and festive New York City is during winter holidays, look at some pictures online or watch Home Alone 2. We are in love with winter NYC and we are pretty sure you fill fall in love with the city too. If you visit NYC this Christmas and you are looking for a place to enjoy a delicious, festive meal, here are our favorite restaurants in New York that are open on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day:

Bagatelle

Bagatelle brings the Saint-Tropez vibe to your Christmas table. The French chic style of the restaurant is perfect for a brunch or dinner with your friends or your family. Bagatelle is perfect for globetrotters who are looking for a lovely dining experience with delicious food.

The Christmas menu includes all kinds of French goodies, such as terrine de foie gras, pan seared scallops and other wonderful dishes that can be found in the regular menu.

Mile End Delicatessen

Mile End Delicatessen is getting ready for a Chinese Christmas in both their Brooklyn and Manhattan locations. The Manhattan location will be open between 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM on 24 and 25 December, while the Brooklyn location will be open from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM on both days.

The Chinese Christmas menu includes Spicy Red Soup, Short Rib Smoked Meat Bao, Eggplant Stuffed with Shitake and other Chinese delights that are included in a two course menu that costs $65 per person.

Nom Wah Tea Parlor

The original Nom Wah restaurant that is situated in China Town will serve its regular menu that includes all kind of yummy Chinese pastries, on Christmas Day.

Nom Wah Tea Parlor is perfect for those who plan to walk around NYC during Christmas day and to relax with a hot cup of tea and some delicious Chinese treats during a break. From vegetarian options to sea food pastries and the classic crispy stallion pancakes and the pork dumplings, Nom Wah Tea Parlor offers many comfort food options you cannot refuse.

The fresh sea food, mouthwatering steak, delicious appetizers and decadent desserts that made Morton’s so loved will be present during Christmas holidays. The restaurant is also known for its collection of fine wine so be ready for a truly special meal.

Dirty French

The French flair of this New York bistro is all you can wish for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. The atmosphere is perfect for a friendly celebration and the décor is classic and Christmassy.

When it comes to the menu, the Christmas celebration at Dirty French includes 6 hors d’oeuvre options, 4 entrée options and 3 dessert options. For the hors d’oeuvre, guests can choose from tuna tartare, grilled oysters with garlic and parsley, roasted beets with Roquefort, crab croquette and Chevre with kale, sunchokes and sand pear. The entrée options are: hanker steak, scallops, book trout and chicken. And for the dessert Christmas guests can indulge in a lemon, almond meringue tart, a delicious crème brulee or a glass of French sorbet.

Floyd Cardoz, Paowalla’s chef, brought the Indian flavors to NYC by cooking spicy and delicious dishes and baking tasty bread and cakes inspired by his heritage and home country recipes. Those who want to try a Goan menu for Christmas can book a table at Paowalla and enjoy a 4 course meal for $75 per person.

From Goan curry and shrimp pilaf to traditional Goan desserts and cakes, Paowalla offers a great Indian experience to those who are bored of the traditional Christmas dishes.

The John Dory Oyster Bar

A must for oyster lovers, The John Dory Oyster Bar opens its doors on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a Fest of the 7 fishes. On December 24th, the bar will be open from 12:00 until midnight with lunch served between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM and dinner served between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM and on December 25th, The John Dory Oyster Bar will be open from 12:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

The Feast of the 7 fishes is $95 per person and it includes: oysters & caviar amuse with champagne granite, scallop crudo with uni & citrus, cured trout & roe with crème fraiche & toast, poached lobster
in fois gras cream, braised osso buco with anchovy & tomatoes and baked treacle with egg nog ice cream.

Besides the Feast of the 7 fishes, The John Dory Oyster Bar also has a limited a la carte menu available.

Reynard

Another restaurant in NYC that will open its doors during Christmas Day is Reynard. The simple but chic decorated restaurant situated in the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn offers a prix fix menu for Christmas Day dinner. If you want to spend Christmas Eve at Reynard, you can but there is no special menu, just the regular menu all guests love.

The Christmas Day dinner menu is $105 per person and it includes a 4 course meal with goose consommé soup; 3 appetizer options: kohlarabi salad, car acara, sprouted rye and arugula; smoked haddock with curried rice and soft egg or foie gras terrine quince and spice bread; 3 entrée options: branzino with scallop and crab & littleneck clams; Christmas goose with bread sauce or roast lamb carrots and brandied prunes, all served alongside radicchio salad with fennel and citrus & pomegranate. For dessert all guests will indulge in a delicious figgy pudding.

Cherche Midi

Cherche Midi is a beautifully decorated restaurant that serves amazing French dishes year round. Alongside the regular French dishes, guests will be able to enjoy some holiday specials on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The restaurant will be open between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM on both days.

The holiday menu includes options like duck consommé, scallop crudo, roasted goose, traditional Yule log but also the restaurant’s famous black label burger and other staple dishes with French and Mediterranean influences.

Kingside

Kingside is another restaurant located in a hotel, Viceroy Hotel to be precise, that will be open during Christmas holidays. The restaurant will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 7:00 AM until 2:00 AM.

Kingside will serve an a la carte menu with special dishes, such as beef tartare, roasted duck with foie gras, truffle fettuccine and other delicious dishes. What we love about Kingside though is that dessert does not come as a dish but as an all you can eat buffet that includes pastries and cake.

Pera Mediterranean Brasserie

Pera will open its doors for guests on Christmas Eve (from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM) with a special Christmas menu that costs $54 per person.

The 3 course menu served by Pera includes some festive and delicious appetizers, such as: ricotta and shrimp dumplings; toasted chestnut soup with festive spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger) or black kale and roasted beet salad with goat cheese mousse, hazelnuts, orange and red radish and citrus vinaigrette; 3 main plates options: filet mignon brochette, braised lamb shank and pecan crusted striped bass and last but not least 3 indulging desserts: chocolate Nirvana, warm pecan pie and poached pear tart.

Fancy Nancy

Situated in Brooklyn, Fancy Nancy is a friendly, neighborhood restaurant that offers a 4 course menu for only $45 on Christmas Day. If you want to avoid fancy restaurants during Christmas Day and a friendly atmosphere is what you are looking for, book a table at Fancy Nancy.
