Often times, less is more...and that is the exact philosophy of Pho An in Bankstown...they stick to what they are good at...Pho (pronounced 'fur' with an intonation up at the end of the word)...which is basically Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup....Pho An offers about 10-15 versions of Pho for you to choose...

I walked into the restaurant with my friend...and it was packed as usual...a sign of a good restaurant....

The decor is simple and minimalistic, but definitely more "done up" than your average Vietnamese restaurant. We were quickly shown by the wait staff to a table...and we knew what we wanted ....'Pho Tai' (which is Beef Noodle soup with raw beef slices on top...the beef slices become nicely semi cooked by the hot soup)....this is one of the most popular ways to eat Pho.

Within 1 minute of ordering, we suddenly see the steaming bowl of noodles beneath our noses....wow...that's what I call FAST food, it really puts Maccas to shame....but that doesn't mean they have not put any effort into the meal....as many many hours are required to create the exquisite soup base that is 'Pho'.....it's SUPER FAST service because they specialise only in Pho and so the kitchen operations are very streamlined and efficient....just brilliant!

Even though they are priced slightly highly than the average Vietnamese restaurant....it is still worth it as this place is serious about Pho....the most important thing about Pho is the soup base....and Pho An manages to create a soup that is tasty but not overpowering...if you have never tasted Pho before...you should definitely give it a go.....many friends who I have introduced to Pho cannot get enough of it now...

If you would like to try Pho places around Sydney....suburbs to wander around would be Cabramatta, Canley Vale/Heights, Bankstown and Marrickville.
