I absolutely love salmon sashimi...so when I stumbled across an advertisement talking about a salmon farm....I convinced my friends we HAD to go...

This particular salmon farm is the highest salmon farm in the world, and because the fish are swimming in fast flowing glacier water from the Southern Alps of New Zealand, it makes the fish meat lean and pure...I couldn't wait...

The turnoff for the Salmon farm takes you onto a 12km stretch of road....so I drove along in anticipation as I waited for the 12km road to reach the end for our yummy destination.

We arrived at a humble little hut like shop and right next to it was the actual salmon farm....by the time we arrived and got out of the car...it had started to have little flutters of snow outside...but I was determined to try this delectable salmon despite the snow surrounding us.

The owner inside was friendly....we didn't quite know how much to order so he was very helpful in suggesting the Salmon Sashimi tasting plate for $NZ13, very good value for money.

The salmon meat was very bright and I could see straight away that it was much leaner than what I was used to seeing in Sydney...the fish indeed must do alot of swimming in the glacier water currents.....the salmon sashimi taste was much less fatty than usual....it had a pure salmon taste to it....it tasted very fresh and delicious....so despite it snowing around us as my friends and I wolfed down the sushi....we somehow didn't feel that cold as the fish was worth the 12km detour...
