Florence is indeed a beautiful city with a strong artistic air to it…I turn the corner and see an artist using different coloured chalks to create a magnificent piece of art on the pavement…I am just blown away by the free spirited flair of these artists…after strolling through a few historic museums, we marvelled at the David statue in the square (although only a replica…it still looked pretty impressive)…

After a morning of exploration, it was time to visit one of the highlights of the day – lunch at the San Lorenzo Markets!

We ventured into the markets and were delighted by the numerous rows of fresh produce and the lovely aromas in the air.

We decided to get some lunch from some of the vendors selling delicious Italian sandwiches… I ended up choosing an open sandwich with tomato, lettuce and cheese – the tomato was very sweet, and the cheesy sauce really brought all the elements of the sandwich together…just pure bliss.

After lunch, it was time to buy some local goodies - I ended up buying some local porcini mushrooms and balsamic vinegar to take home…it’s really a great market to visit to be able to experience and sample the local produce and see a wide array of local Tuscan products.
