It's always fun to be invited to a media launch party, especially when it's for food.

Bagels are something quite unique to the US, and the owners of Brooklyn Hide have been inspired to re-create the culture and flavour of scrumptious bagels for the Sydney food scene. Brooklyn was their favourite place in the US, so hence the name "Brooklyn Hide" was born.

It wasn't long before the cafe was packed with people eager to have a taste of these unique bagels, which are all baked on-site.

The cafe had a nice vibe to it - all the walls were cladded with wooden panels that were more than 100 years old. There were also lovely antique looking clocks and telephones, and other accessories sprawled throughout the cafe, to add a rustic "Brooklyn" atmosphere for diners.

Before we knew it, the friendly staff began bringing out samples of the bagels. There is a great variety of bagel fillings on offer, all named after places in New York.

One of my favourites was the "Chinatown" flavour:

It was a delightful mouthful of crab, egg, and a lovely XO sauce topping that worked very well with all the ingredients.

As for sweet bagels, the blueberry bagel was to die for:

The lemon infused cream and berry sauce was a perfect match, I literally saw these ones flying off the plate!

Brooklyn Hide certainly did not disappoint, a must for all bagel lovers in Sydney to check out, the bagels were crisp, fluffy and addictively delicious.

Brooklyn Hide opened their doors on 20th June 2013, and are trading for breakfast & lunch hours - enjoy!
