There is a nice restaurant strip within the Hakodate Morning Market. We found a restaurant where there was a TV screen at this shopfront window displaying a video of someone eating a live squid dish...we were fascinated and walked in.

There were lots of different seafood dishes available to choose from. We ordered a big crab, clam sashimi, scallops sashimi and salmon sashimi. The crab meat was very sweet and delicious, the crab sticks were so long and huge. The clam was crispy in texture and sweet; the scallops were firm and sweet, and the salmon was nicely presented and fresh. We glanced at a couple behind us and the guy was eating the live squid dish, we were mesmerised...I don't think I could do it though....
