We had just finished a 3-4 hour trek of Hooker Valley in Mount Cook, so we all agreed that we deserved a big meal for our efforts...we headed to "The Old Mountaineer's Cafe".... we had seen it before our walk as it was close to the visitor's had stunning views of the mountains and an open fire place it was a winner.

I ordered a honey/barley was a tad too sweet but it was nice and warm and was sufficient in helping me to stay warm.

Despite it being past 3pm...I decided I felt like a "big breakfast" meal for some reason....and I must say it did not meal came out and there were generous portions nicely laid out on the plate....but what made the food taste different to the standard big breakfast meal...was in fact the tomato sauce.....

Tomato sauce I hear you what....but it wasn't the standard heinz red tomato was a home made organic green tomato sauce....and it tasted tasted a bit like a relish of some's hard to tasted so good I was compelled to dip everything I had on my big breakfast plate in this funky green sauce....
