We had enjoyed a lovely day immersed in a cooking class in Florence, and we got chatting with some fellow travellers about good places to eat in Florence, and they promptly recommended a place to try wild boar steak, my friend wrote down the name and we decided to go there the next night for dinner…I love how one thing just naturally leads to another when travelling…

When we arrived, the restaurant was nicely decorated with a medieval, epic vibe, and got us in the mood for some serious steak…

In Tuscany so far, we’ve noticed that “lard” was rather popular, so we decided to order that for entrée. We then all ordered some mains to share: wild boar steak, meat stew with semolina, and a tripe stew.

We tried the lard dish, which came with bread and cheese…although it was interesting, I didn’t really appreciate the taste, as it was rather bland with only the lard and not the accompanying prosciutto my palate is accustomed to….but worth a try anyway…

For the mains, the stew dishes were rich in flavour and the meat pieces were very tender; the steak was nice and succulent.

We are ordered some classic desserts: crème brulee and profiteroles…the perfect way to end a good hearty meal.

We enjoyed a lovely stroll after the meal in the surrounding streets, it was starting to hit dusk and we watched the sun set while enjoying some street entertainment….what a beautiful corner of Florence to visit!
