It was time to catch up with family, and it was a rather cold night…so it was decided ramen would be perfect…

My brother knew of a small, tucked away ramen shop near his place….so we headed off…it sure was discreet, as we initially thought it was closed…but as we got closer…there were indeed people inside eating.

It was a nice, cosy place, and it reminded me of a Cha chaan teng that you would find in Hong Kong but of course it was serving ramen rather than Cantonese food. I ended up going for the special ramen for that night – which was a combination of fish and pork stock in a salt soup base. The soup was very flavoursome and the crispy onion and sesame seeds sprinkled on top were great in accentuating the flavours. The dish just got a bit salty towards the end…but then again, I did choose a salt based soup.

I also had a try of my brother’s pork based ramen (“Tonkotsu”)….and the pork flavour was intense and delicious…I think I will go for this ramen next time round!
