Whenever I’m in Geneva, I have to go to Les Brasseurs.  Truly; it’s a compulsion.  So, it stands to reason that any restaurant located next door would grab my attention.  But, when that restaurant is a new burger joint with clever branding, then it’s automatically added to my must-do list.

And, the thing about most of Switzerland is that you’re not going to find many restaurants open on a Sunday.  That is, of course, unless you’re located across from the train station.  So, we could easily schedule the new Holy Cow! restaurant into our itinerary without detracting from the other places I wanted to try.

The Holy Cow! is a simple idea.  They’re big on burgers, but not just any burgers.  As far as Europe is concerned, these are downright exotic, with options like Maui Maui, Elvis Blue Cheese and Yo Ginza Beef.  Mouth watering, right?  And that is precisely what our burgers were.  Sure, the chips were good, but I couldn’t put my burger down – and I only ordered a standard Big Beef.

But there’s more (besides the artisanal house beer – which I didn’t see until I ordered a small bottle of wine).  See, I was in a bit of a terrible mood before I bit into my burger.  I’d just discovered that IKEA wasn’t open on Sunday, and I was leaving Switzerland the next day.  And since there’s such a huge chunk of my heart floating around Geneva, a terror had settled in.  Okay, perhaps the wine helped, but I’m convinced that chowing a delicious burger while allowing the image of Cornavin train station to fix itself permanently in my memory was the only way to cure the “I’m leaving Geneva blues”.  (Or, is it bleus?)
