They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. I don’t know who they are, but I have to say I think they’re right. I’ve lost count of the number of times that I’ve seen a man smile a little brighter after having a good meal! If truth be told, it works just as well with me cook me something delicious and Im putty in your hands!

Believe it or not, there is more to food than just clichés and old wives’ tales. There is actually some science behind the link between food and love. Interested in how you can use food to your advantage when trying to woo your love? Read on to find out more…

It goes without saying that eating can be a very erotic, sensual experience, as can cooking itself. No doubt you’ve all seen clips of Nigella Lawson pouting over some rather phallic-looking vegetables and if you havent, then do a quick search online. Youll soon see what I mean. How often does watching someone lick up drips from a melting ice cream stir feelings deep inside you that come from somewhere quite different than your stomach?

Of course, the setting has a lot to do with it. Eating your lunch in a greasy spoon café isn’t going to move anyone to anything but tears. However, choose somewhere comfortable, turn on the soft lighting, put on some easy-listening background music, and serve good food in a cosy, romantic environment for an experience that will leave you a little hotter under the collar. There’s something very romantic about a candlelit dinner no matter what food youre serving so ramp up the red wine and roses if youre trying to win someone over.

Moving on to the food itself, many different ingredients have actually been found to have certain advantageous properties. It’s no secret that chocolate gives you a rush that you usually only feel under entirely different circumstances; this is because chocolate releases the exact same endorphins that your body releases during sex.

Chocolate isn’t the only mood-inducing food, though. Foods which are aphrodisiacs spark feelings of sexual desire in anyone who eats them. You might not notice it at first, but many of these feelings work at a subconscious level. There are plenty of different foods to choose from, but some of the most famous foods which are aphrodisiacs include chillis, asparagus, avocados, bananas and oysters.

So, by now you should have the recipe for the ultimate erotic, sensual eating experience to get you in the mood and to win over the object of your eye. Lay the table and set the scene, then serve up oysters and courses with chilli chocolate, and try to look sexy while you eat. Follow these steps and youll have a sure-fire way to improve your love life, all through the power of food!
