Etch is a lovely restaurant tucked away inside the Intercontinental Hotel. As we walked through the main door, I immediately felt relaxed and at home. There were lush, comfy sofas at the front and we were welcomed by some soft, relaxing music playing in the background. We were swiftly taken to our reserved table and the wait staff were attentive and polite.

I was attracted to the scampi risotto with vanilla and grapes, interesting combination I thought, so I decided to have that for my main dish. I am not a huge fan of risotto but I must say that this is one of the best risottos I have tasted. The vanilla was not overpowering at all, just enough to give the dish a lovely aroma and flavour; the grapes went really well with the scampi and creamy sauce. They only thing is I would have preferred for the risotto to be a little bit more cooked through, the rice was a little harder than usual.

The main dish was quite generous, but we decided we would squeeze in dessert somehow. The dessert menu was very enticing and I finally decided on the "Chocolate and peanut butter mille feuille, Manuka honey marshmallow". The dessert's presentation was stunning, it looked like a piece of artwork. I was fascinated by the honey marshmallows, they were light and fluffy and the honey really gave it a delightful flavour. I then put my spoon through the dessert's many layers...chocolate, peanut butter mousse, and a crunchy peanut top; there were 3 different textures as I tasted my first mouthful...it reminded me of the taste of hershey's chocolates... a perfect combination of chocolate and peanuts...the dish also came with a light honey sorbet...this dish is perfect for chocolate and peanut lovers.

As we left the restaurant, the wait staff politely thanked us; which was a great way to end a very pleasant evening. Etch managed to provide great service, great food and a welcoming atmosphere...making the evening a memorable experience for years to come.
