A favourite destination in Hong Kong has got to be Lantau! With so many things on offer , it is a great day trip for the whole family! Start off by getting there........the most enjoyable way for me is from Central ferry Pier on Hong Kong island. Go to Pier no 6 and take the slow ferry on good weather days. Make sure to pack the camera as there are great shots to be had of the Hong Kong skyline. The ferry takes about an hour to get to the sleepy village of Mui Wo. If you are in a hurry when landing then hop on the bus to your required destination. In this case we are taking Bus 3M to Pui O Village to visit one of my favourite restaurants there - Tap Tap. About a year old now, Tap Tap is a favourite with visitors, as dogs and kids and weary hikers are all welcome.

On this occasion I had the chicken fajitas. Chef Carlton is amazing! I loved the display. The fajitas were kept warm in their wrapped basket, the quacomale was perfect and the chicken beautifully tender. Their Spanish Estrella Beer topped it off nicely.

No need to book in advance as there is always place for two more! Their event evenings are great fun as well and follow them on Facebook for updates on these.

Bruce the Buffalo is a regular guest at Tap Tap as well and will not leave without his favourite delicacy - oranges!

Pui O has a lovely beach to take a walk on and there are several hikes in the area if you're feeling healthy. Cheung Sha beach is a good beach to swim at and also features several restuarants - but more on those later!

Lantau is also home to Big Buddha which is the largest Buddha Statue in Asia and sports a cable car to get there. This is accessible from the MTR via Tung Chung.

If you are taking the ferry back home again then stop off at China Bear for a sundowner before hopping on the fast ferry home!
