Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, filled to the rafters with art, culture, passion, sun, shopping, and of course - good food. If you walk around the centre of the city you will see countless restaurants, both those which are popular with tourists, and smaller establishments which are popular with locals.

One of the slightly bigger restaurants is called Ristorante Circus. It's situated in the corner of the Piazza della Signoria, right in the heart of the city. It's perfectly located to get to all the nearby attractions, including the Duomo.

This restaurant includes indoor seating as well as outdoor seating to the front, right on the piazza itself. This is the most beautiful place to sit, as you overlook a fountain and the beautiful buildings. It's also a great place to do some people watching!

As you'd expect, the menu is filled with pizza and pasta dishes. Authentic Italian pizzas are unlike pizzas anywhere else in the world, so they come with my wholehearted recommendation! Some of the flavours and toppings can sound a little bland to our ears (such as plain mozarella and basil), but don't be fooled. The simplicity and the freshness together means that the pizzas taste divine.

If you're eating outside, occasionally you may be approached by someone selling roses or other beautiful flowers. Far from being a nuisance, this is exactly the sort of thing that just adds to the charm of the restaurant and to the city as a whole.

The wonderful thing about this restaurant is that the staff take a real interest in their customers, much more so than most of the other large restaurants in the city. They recognise repeat customers and welcome you like family - and it isn't unheard of for people who return often enough to walk away with a bottle of wine on the house!

Overall, I can't really fault Ristorante Circus. The prices are very reasonable, considering the fabulous city in which it's located. The members of staff are wonderful, the food is amazing, and you get to enjoy one of the best cities in the world. Life doesn't get much better!
