You surely heard of juicing or juice cleansing diets, souping is based on the same principle but instead of drinking juice, people eat only vegetable soups for a period of time in order to lose weight, cleanse their bodies and become healthier. While vegetable soups can be a great source of vitamins, eating just soup is not such a good idea. Short term diets do not provide long-lasting results and they can cause numerous health problems. We do not encourage you to try a soup cleanse, but we think incorporating soups into a healthy diet can be a great way to lose weight and to become healthier.

By incorporating healthy vegetable soups or healthy broth-based soups into your diet, you will load your body with vitamins, antioxidants and, since most soups are low in calories, you can enjoy a large serving meal without worrying about gaining weight. A high-volume meal, such as soup, can keep you full for a long period of time compared to low-volume diet meals.

If you want to try a healthy version of souping, we advise you to replace one of your regular meals, preferably dinner, with soup for 7 days and see if you like the results. We recommend eating balanced breakfasts and lunch meals (that do not consist of soup) and avoiding cream-based soups during dinner because they are usually saturated with calories and fats. You should also make sure that your soup is filled with proteins. If you are vegan or vegetarian, beans and lentils in your soup are a very good idea; if you are not, you can add lean meat, but always make sure that the soup you are enjoying for dinner has a serve of protein.
