Steamed Garlic Shrimps Recipe

Here's the story behind this recipe: "I used to stay at my grandmother’s home when I was young. My grandmother knew I loved seafood a lot and she used to make me this dish every summer. This dish is very special - it reminds me of my fond memories with my grandma."

Ingredients

  • 5 x Shrimps/Prawns
  • 1 x whole garlic (whole head)
  • half teaspoon of sesame oil
  • half teaspoon of white pepper
  • half teaspoon of Chinese cooking wine
  • half teaspoon of light soy sauce
  • half teaspoon of salt
  • a pinch of sugar
  • parsley flakes (garnish)

Instructions/Method


Dry the washed shrimps using kitchen/paper towels:



Cut off the legs and antennae:



Slightly cut the heads and tails of the shrimps:



Cut into the body. Take out the intestine:


Mince the whole head of garlic. Mix the garlic with sesame oil, white pepper, Chinese cooking wine, salt and sugar:


Fill the shrimps with the minced garlic mix:



Steam in medium heat for 5 minutes:



Drizzle some sesame oil over the cooked prawns and garnish with parsley flakes. It's ready, enjoy!
 
Note:
- Adjust the quantity of garlic according to your preference.
- The garlic may turn a bit green after steaming.  This is safe to eat. This is the reaction of sulfur compounds in garlic with the other ingredients.
