It's that time of year when fruits and vegetables are at their best in Britain and one of the finest ways to celebrate is with a food festival. Up and down the country there are some excellent places to spend a day sampling delicacies and buying produce. Here are some of the best ones to visit.

Abergavenny Food Festival

Located in South Wales, Abergavenny is renowned for its foodie culture. Each September a food festival hits town and the streets are full of stalls selling local produce, cooks demonstrating, and all manner of exhibits. It is a great place to go to see the best of Welsh food and to enjoy the smells, tastes, and sights here.

Another town focused on slow food production, Ludlow is in the heart of Shropshire. The food festival here takes over the entire town each September and has demonstrations from food producers and cooks, stalls, exhibits, and is fun for all the family. If all the food is too much you can simply take part in the traditional Magnalonga. This eight mile walk through the Shropshire countryside stops at pubs and cafes along the way to taste even more locally produced food.
