Edinburgh has many excellent places to eat with new restaurants opening up all the time. The Old Town in Scotland's capital city is full of cafes, gourmet restaurants and the freshest of food.

Seafood is particularly good in Edinburgh and one of the best places to eat out is at Ondine, on George IV Bridge. This restaurant has an excellent oyster bar and a la carte dining. The fish is sourced locally and it is an ideal venue for a lazy lunch or dinner.

Cucina is an Italian themed restaurant in the Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh and has vibrant decor reflecting the famous designer. The food is superb with the lamb a recommendation. The roasted pineapple with salted caramel was another delicious treat here.

For traditional Scottish cuisine Dubh Prais on the Royal Mile is a tiny restaurant but very popular. As I pondered the menu a local man standing nearby said, "if you go in there, you'll eat well." He was right. This restaurant serves Scottish traditional cuisine and is a good place to find local venison or haggis.

The Witchery is a magical sounding restaurant and is renowned for fine dining. Located on Castle Hill it is very atmospheric and the food is excellent. It is just the place to find locally sourced duck and other specialties and is a popular restaurant to dine. The menu here is seasonal so that the finest local ingredients can be served.

Edinburgh is full of excellent places to eat. As a top tip, these restaurants are so popular with locals as well as visitors that reserving a table is highly recommended, especially at the weekends.
