I have yet another fabulous little English country pub to share with you - quite possibly this one is Wiltshire's best kept secret.

Shipton Bellinger is a small village in the middle of the Wiltshire countryside. Popular with military families due to the Army base just a few minutes down the road, it has excellent transport links. The A303 is on its doorstep, which provides links to the East, as well as the far South West like Devon and Cornwall.

Shipton Bellinger doesn't have a lot going on, but it does have one magnificent pub, which people travel miles to visit. The Boot Inn brings a nice atmosphere, lovely surroundings and good staff together, as well as great food!

To the rear of the pub is a large car park with space for plenty of cars. There is also a grassy area with benches, where you can sit and enjoy your meal if the weather's good. Towards the front of the pub, there are even more tables and chairs; they are surrounded by beautiful, colourful flowers, which makes it a very pleasant place to sit, eat and enjoy the company of friends.

Inside, you are greeted by a bar and reception area, which leads through to a large seating area with tables, benches and chairs. Although the décor is relatively dark, the atmosphere is cosy, relaxed and comforting, as you would expect from a good English pub.

The menu is extensive, boasting food from Thailand, Italy, China, the Far East and Mexico, as well as all the traditional English pub grub. You can have everything from a fillet steak to lasagne to Thai curries to Caribbean prawn cocktail, and everything in between!

I have visited The Boot Inn a number of times, and most recently I tried the 'Crispy Mongolian Lamb' from their lunch menu. On the plate it looked absolutely fantastic, much better quality and presentation than you'd usually expect from a pub, especially considering the reasonable price! Every meal that I've had there has been exquisite; I have been very impressed. In addition, my friends have eaten at The Boot Inn (both with me and without me!) and I have never heard a single complaint. In fact, it was recommendations from friends and locals that pointed me in their direction in the first place!

As mentioned previously, the prices are very reasonable. They may not be the cheapest you'll find, but you certainly get what you pay for. Whether I want a lunch with the girls or a meal out with the family, I have no hesitation in paying their prices. The last time I visited, I was with one friend - lunch and drinks for both of us totalled £20. Very reasonable, indeed!

All in all, I can't fault The Boot Inn at all. In fact, my only criticism would be that it isn't nearer to my home! The members of staff are all polite, friendly, and attentive, but never pushy, which makes for a great eating experience. Without doubt, The Boot Inn in Shipton Bellinger is one of the best local eateries that Wiltshire has to offer!
